Wild Card Craziness

I was against adding another wild card team to each league in the MLB. With less than a month left and so many teams having a chance to make it to October, I still don't like it. What was wrong with the way it was? Wasn't the last day of the season last year the best ever? I believe so. When they announced this decision in the offseason all the "experts" loved it because it would make the end even more exciting. I don't think so.
Last year you had teams falling apart allowing the Cardinals and Rays to sneak in. This year you have teams falling apart that still may make it. The Cardinals, Pirates, and Dodgers have been battling for the 2nd NL spot and all of a sudden the Phillies and Brewers aren't left for dead anymore. So you either will get a team thats been bad the final month or a team that was bad the rest of the time. At least last year the Cardinals were having a good season. Then there are the Yankees. It could be an even worse collapse than last years Red Sox and Braves, yet NYC could still make it.
Even if Stl makes it, my team, I still wont like it. They'll have to play a 1 game playoff to see who moves on, which means a worse team with 1 great pitcher could win. That wouldn't be the case with at least a 3 games series. I hope 3 or more teams tie for the 2nd wild card spot. What are they going to do then? Play multiple extra play in games? Good luck with that.
It has made some series more interesting as the Cards are playing the Dodgers in a series right now. Like I said, if Stl makes it I wont like it but I will take it because after all they are my team. Outside of that go Rays, Orioles, and A's. Are we going to see an October with Jeter and Ortiz sitting at home?
