Top Olympic Sports

The whole Olympics have been fantastic to watch, outside of the opening ceremony. There have been great stories from athletes who have beat cancer and those who have made it back to the Olympics after battling injuries. There has been upsets and repeats. There has also been world records broken down time after time, along with great games including US vs Canada in women's soccer.
I haven't gotten to see every sport but some I don't need to see, such as soccer and basketball. I've seen those plenty of times so I can wait til the final. There have been some that I just can't watch, such as fencing (can't tell who gets the point except when score changes) and weight lifting. Then we have the sports that catch my eye and the Olympics is the only time I see them. So here are my top 5 sports/events from the Olympics.
1) Beach Volleyball: There were a couple of sports fighting for the top spot. The semifinal between USA and Brazil put beach volleyball over the top. As I mentioned yesterday this was one of the greatest match I've seen in any sport. Outside of that match it has been fun to watch. There were upsets in both the men's and womens, and it doesn't hurt that it ended up being an all USA gold medal match in the womens.
2) Swimming: Even more than beach volleyball almost everyone can swim, but it is still amazing to watch. The swimmers are so strong and athletic so it's always been fun to watch in past Olympics. In Beijing we had Phelps going 8 for 8. This year he set the all time medal record and battled with Lochte. Then there were all the World Records that were broken and the close finishes. What made it even better was how much fun everyone was having, especially the American Women. Miss Franklin probably being the favorite Olympic athlete for a lot of people, including myself, and the promise of great swimmers for years to come just capped it off.
3) Sprinting and Hurdles: Whats not fun about watching men and women run really fast? We all wish we could run fast; then there's Bolt. He is ridiculous blowing away everyone and pulling up at the end, plus he has a great personality. The competition has been great, in both mens and womens. The final of the men's 100 featured the top 4 fastest times ever and was the top 10 seconds of the Olympics. Now add jumping over hurdles and still running freakeshly fast, WOW!
4) Water Polo: You have to be strong from head to toe. Tredding water the whole time and swimming back and forth is crazy. It is a really cool sport and is so rough; they go through a lot and beating. I wonder if any NFL teams have been watching the mens teams?
5) Archery: It's just shooting arrows at a target right? Well yea but it was still entertaing to watch. I've never tried to shoot a bow, but I know I couldn't. Plus with all the preasure still having to concentrate without the slightest of movement is just crazy.
Gymnastics would have made it above archery beacause they did some crazy things in the air (from bars and the ground). But the rules didn't even make it an option for me. I still don't understand how only allowing 2 from each country to move on makes sense; it should be the top 24 period. Then there was the tie-breaker rule again not making sense. So gymnists it wasn't your fault you didn't cut it; just keep on flying.
