2/2011 Early NFL Mock Draft 6-10
February 13th 2011 14:19
6. Cleveland Browns LB Von Miller
Although I was tempted to reach for WR Julio Jones and fulfill the Browns' biggest need, I felt that the Browns wouldn't be able to pass up on the talent of Von Miller. Besides, Cleveland needs a linebacker as well especially a blitzing player like Miller. The Browns want a pass rusher that is versatile enough to play as a standup DE. Miller looks like a solid seven technique player already.
7. San Francisco 49ers CB Patrick Peterson
Finally somebody gets the best corner in the draft and one of the best players in the draft. I love Peterson, but the other guys before in the draft don't have as big of a need at corner than at other positions. Shawntae Spencer and Nate Clements are average at best, and Clemens is getting older. Peterson is a fast, playmaking corner that looks like the real deal. Peterson is the third LSU guy that I have fallen in love with, along with Dwayne Bowe and Matt Flynn.
8. Tennessee Titans CB Prince Amukamara
Who knows? These guys might reach for a QB. I would hope not. There are no other QBs worth a 1st round choice beyond Gabbert. The Titans have a huge need at secondary, so Marcell Dareus is still waiting for his call. Amukamara is extremely versatile, instinctive, and he is great in any type of coverage. I really like this guy, and he can compliment Cortland Finnegan well.
9. Dallas Cowboys DT Marcell Dareus
Although Jay Ratliff is a stud, the Cowboys seriously lack depth on the defensive line. They only have two defensive tackles on the roster. Dareus is a big game prospect that is explosive and is great at the point of attack and getting off right from the start.
10. Washington Redskins OT Anthony Castonzo
I could see the Skins drafting defensive end Cameron Jordan here, but I feel that they will really want to draft an offensive lineman. I really like Jordan and Castonzo. I love his quickness, intelligence, and work ethic. He isn't a strong player, but his other characteristics more than make up for his lack of strength. He is the best offensive lineman in this year's draft.
