Pro Sports Wrap - Sports Personality of the Day:Tony Romo

2010 PSW NBA and NHL All-Stars

April 21st 2011 15:17
I have assembled both of my All-Star teams for the NHL and NBA with both league's regular seasons having ended. There are three All-Star teams (or lines for hockey) and there is a goalie for each NHL line. This has nothing to do with team value, but rather how well the player played overall.

NHL

Line One

G Carey Price
D Lubomir Visnovsky
D Nicklad Lidstrom
W Daniel Sedin
W Corey Perry
C Henrik Sedin

Line Two

G Tim Thomas
D Zdeno Chara
D Keith Yandle
W Martin St. Louis
W Jarome Iginla
C Steve Stamkos

Line Three

G Pekka Rinne
D Dustin Byfuglien
D Christian Ehrhoff
W Alex Ovechkin
W Claude Giroux
C Ryan Kesler

NBA

Team One

PG Chris Paul
SG Dwayne Wade
SF LeBron James
PF Kevin Love
C Dwight Howard

Team Two

PG Derrick Rose
SG Kobe Bryant
SF Kevin Durant
PF Dirk Nowitzki
C Tim Duncan

Team Three

Like the teams, though I would have Rose over Paul and Aldridge as he has played center this season over Bynum. Like Love being first team.

Where is Shea Weber. He is one of the best defenseman in the NHL.

Shea Weber is indeed one of the best defensemen in the NHL, but I just put Dustin Byfuglien over him. It was a tough choice, but I thought he was slightly better last year than Weber. But yes, you are right about that. Chris Paul had the better year than Derrick Rose when you look beyond the counting statistics. Paul is a better passer and defensive player than Rose, and Paul is more of a true point guard. It is a matter of either-or, but I took Paul because he is better in the non-scoring traits. Kobe did have a great year, as always, but Wade was better. Aldridge had a nice season, but Andrew Bynum is much better defensively. Defense gets overlooked way too much in this league when people make their All-Star teams. In terms of overall performance, LeBron James was the best player in the league. I really hope nobody argues against that. Heck, he led the league in PER and Win Shares! Oh, and he averages 26-7-7 in the counting stats.
