My NFL Championship Week Preview
Well the playoffs have been a bit different this season thus far. Both of the lowest seeded teams in each conference have advanced to the championship round and are just one win away from making the Super Bowl. The two teams they are facing are only a 4th seed, and a 2nd seed.
The match up on the AFC side of the ball is a divisional rivalry between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Being from the same division means they have faced off twice this season already. In their first match up in week four of the season Pittsburgh came out on top 23-20. In their second game it was more of the same, but with the defense on both sides doing a better job. The final score of that game was 13-9.
This game is sure to be a battle of the defenses too. This could mean that it turns into an actual battle of the kickers, but I don’t think that will be entirely true. I think it will be the Ravens defense that decides things. I see Ed Reed getting an interception, and if he doesn’t bring it back for a touchdown he sets up an easy score for his offense. Big Ben should also be getting hit early and often which could lead to his early exit.
My prediction: Ravens 20 – Steelers 6
The NFC game is the one I am really interested in though. It is a match up between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Arizona Cardinals. These two teams played on Thanksgiving night and the Eagles dominated the game, winning 48 – 20.
There are a few things that will be different in this game. See, in the other game Donavon McNabb threw four touchdowns. Something he doesn’t normally do. Kurt Warner threw three interceptions. Something he doesn’t normally do.
Warner did however throw for three touchdowns, something he has done four times this season. He should be able to throw at least two this week. In that game the Cardinals running back Edgerrin James didn’t have a single carry. In recent weeks they have been utilizing him again.
In the end I see the Arizona Cardinals winning and heading to the Super Bowl!
My prediction: Cardinals 41 – Eagles 23
Side note: Larry Fitzgerald will score three times.
