11/8 Talking Sports: Torres Terrifies
November 8th 2010 16:11
I just want to talk about sports, plain and simple. So this format enables me to just ramble on about the topic that all you readers that read this blog want to hear about. Here at PSW, we are all about the fans and sports. So sit back, relax, read, and most of all; enjoy.
I was surprised just as much as you were. No, not the dominance of Peyton Hillis and especially not the dominance of Aaron Hernandez. I have always known that Hernandez was capable of big things. However, the Cleveland Browns obliterated the New England Patriots even when the Pats passed the pigskin perfectly. Tom Brady was hooking up with his receivers. Cleveland's QB didn't look too bad either. Rookie Colt McCoy has been what Mike Holmgren has envisioned him to be; smart and accurate.
The league never evolved into a league of passing. In fact, running the football is still the most important thing in the league. If you do not believe in the Herm Edwards quote "You cannot win if you cannot run" then go ask Sean Payton and the other folks in the Bayou.
Liverpool's 2-0 win over Chelsea wasn't shocking, but it was a little bit surprising. I mean, Liverpool is a good team on paper; but they weren't getting it done thus far and are still in the bottom half. Chelsea are at the top of the table and were on form. Both teams played well, but one player won the game. Fernando Torres has always been a favorite of mine. This game shows why he is penciled in as the best striker in the world in my rankings.
Well sure he is one of my favorite players, but I am not overrating him. He has been playing through injuries and when Torres was finally healthy; he made the Blues and all of his critics pay. Fernando Torres is a true striker. He is a beast that destroys opponents when unleashed. Just remember, Liverpool will at least make the UEFAs as long as Torres, Gerrard, Carragher, Pepe Reina, and Lucas roam around the Anfield.
